Eggerick Beningha was the descendant of a noble family of Grimersum in East Friesland, statesman and historian, counselor of Countess Anna, and the author of the Ostfriesische Chronik (1723), an excellent source for the East Frisian Anabaptist movement in the 16th century, which P. Müller used extensively in his Geschichte der Mennoniten in Ostfriesland.
