Audrain County (Missouri, USA)
Audrain County was the location of an Amish Mennonite settlement that lasted from 1898 until 1917. The founding leaders were Jacob D. Guengerich (1843-1926), John C. Gingerich (1846-1929), and John B. Miller (1844-1929), all of Johnson County, Iowa. Over 20 families moved there, mostly from Iowa. Resident ministers were John Zimmerman, Bishop Noah Yoder, and E. C. Beachy. Causes contributing to the dissolution of the settlement included crop failures, deaths and church problems, A cemetery of seven graves marks the center of this former settlement, which was near Centralia.
