Arent Block, an Anabaptist martyr from Zevenbergen, Dutch province of North Brabant (not Transylvahia as the Mennonitisches Lexikon has it), was one of the seven martyrs who were put to death at Breda (same province) in 1572. The Martyrs' Mirror states that Arent, on the way to the place of execution, dropped a note hoping that one of his friends would pick it up. But the letter fell into the hands of his enemies, and Arent and his companion Cornelis de Gyselaar were brought back to prison for another severe torture, after which they were burned at the stake.
