Alexanderkrone was a village in the southwest part of the Mennonite settlement on the <em>[[Molotschna Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Molotschna]], </em>on the left bank of the Yushanlee River, province [[Taurida Guberniya (Ukraine)|Taurida]], 65 miles (110 km) northwest of [[Berdyansk (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Berdyansk]]. It was one of the latest villages of the [[Halbstadt (Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Halbstadt]] district, founded in 1857. In 1913 it numbered 550 inhabitants, who were mostly engaged in agriculture. To the village belonged some 8,500 acres of land. The soil was fertile, but not suitable for winter wheat. Besides an elementary school, in which two teachers taught sixty children (in 1913), there was in Alexanderkrone after 1906 a three-class Russian [[Alexanderkrone Business School (Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|business school]] with about ninety students. It was one of the latest villages of the Halbstadt district, founded in 1857. In 1913 it numbered 550 inhabitants, who were mostly engaged in agriculture. To the village belonged some 8,500 acres of land. The soil was fertile, but not suitable for winter wheat. Besides an elementary school, in which two teachers taught sixty children (in 1913), there was in Alexanderkrone after 1906 a three-class Russian business school with about ninety students.
