Nachbarschaftsheim

Nachbarschaftsheim (Neighborhood Center), a term used by the Mennonite Central Committee for its service projects in Germany (e.g., Heilbronn and Berlin) and Austria after World War II, in which a barracks or a purchased or rented house was used as a center for such activities as sewing room, youth meetings, boys' clubs, library and reading room, and some clothing and food distribution. Sometimes Sunday school and other religious services were conducted in them also.
