The Mountville Mennonite Church began when interested persons who were not members donated land in 1898 in Mountville, Pennsylvania, for a new meetinghouse. A brick building, with a basement and heating system, was dedicated on 7 August 1898. It became the third congregation in the Habecker District of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference.

Sunday school began at Mountville in 1904. Initially, services were held in the Mountville meetinghouse every two weeks. Weekly services began in the 1930s.
