Möllinger, a well-known name among the Mennonites of the Palatinate, Germany, whose progenitor, Ulrich Möllinger, immigrated from the canton of Bern, Switzerland, in the middle of the 17th century, and settled on the "Mainzer Hofgut" in Guntersblum near Oppenheim, and then on the Kirschgartshäuserhof near Mannheim. The dates of his birth and death are not known.

His son Jakob Möllinger (born about 1660) was hereditary lessee of one fourth of the Hemshof. Johannes Möllinger, a grandson of Jakob, was ordained preacher and elder of the Friesenheim congregation (see Namenlistbüchlein 1805, 43).

Better known than Jakob and his descendants was his younger brother Vincenz and his family. Vincenz Möllinger (born 22 November 1668, died December 1748) settled in Dühren near Sinsheim a. Elsenz, where he married Veronica Magelin (1664-1753). In 1710 he settled with his family on the Nonnenhof near Bobenheim, in 1714 in Eppstein near Frankenthal, and in 1718 in Mutterstadt. When he died at the age of 80 he left his widow, four married sons, and three married daughters, whom the parents had reared "with great love and care." Some of the four sons became famed beyond the Mennonite circles.

Mellingers were found in America in the 1950s in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in Columbiana and Mahoning counties, Ohio, and at Sterling, Illinois.
