Moyo Mapendla (ca. 1913-1969)
Moyo Mapendla was an outstanding educator in the school system of the Brethren in Christ Church in what is now Zimbabwe. As a student, he prepared to become a teacher in the Brethren in Christ Matopo school system. He continued his education through the extension program of the U. of South Africa and at Messiah College, Grantham, PA. (1963-1966; BA 1966). He served as a teacher of the Standard III class at the Matopo Training Institute (1938-1939), became Head Teacher at the Matopo Teacher Training Institute (1944), and was the headmaster of the Wanezi Central Primary School (1945-1963). He is also remembered for his ability as an interpreter for visiting Brethren in Christ leaders, as well as for such noted Christian leaders as Billy Graham.
