The Iowa Mennonite Benevolent Association, Inc., was organized in March 1956, at Kalona, Iowa, to build and operate a Mennonite home for the aged that became known as Peasantview Home. It was erected in 1957 at Kalona to accommodate about 40 guests. The association was composed of 33 members representing six of the seven Mennonite (Mennonite Church) congregations, the three Conservative Mennonite congregations, and the one Beachy Amish congregation in the general Kalona-Wellman area, and elected by them. The board of directors consisted of six members chosen by the association.
