Didsbury Evangelical Missionary Church (Didsbury, Alberta, Canada)
Didsbury United Missionary Church (Mennonite Brethren in Christ), the oldest, largest and most prominent congregation of the United Missionary Church in the province of Alberta, was started in 1894 by members of the Ontario Conference (MBC), the first church being built in 1896. In 1952 there were 254 members. The pastor also has charge of an appointment at Davenport, 10 miles southeast of Didsbury. There were subsequent building programs in 1903 and 1960. J.B. Detwiler is considered the founding leader of the group.
Pastor Mike Morgan served in 2007 as a congregational leader. In 1958 there were 230 members. The congregation has been affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren in Christ (1894-1947), United Missionary Church (1947-1975), the Missionary Church and the Evangelical Missionary Church.
The Didsbury Missionary Church merged with the Zion Evangelical Church in 1995 to form the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church. The Zion Evangelical Church had been established in 1902.
Jacob Y. Shantz initiated this settlement at Didsbury.
