Wybrands, Aemilius Willem (1838-1886)
Aemilius Willem Wybrands (Wijbrands), born 1 October 1838 at Amsterdam, died 22 September 1886 at Leiden, was educated at the Athenaeum and Mennonite seminary at Amsterdam and served as pastor of the Mennonite congregations of Edam 1862-1870, Hoorn 1870-1882, and Leiden 1882-1886. Though he died before the age of 48, he left a large number of writings, particular ly dealing with medieval history and literature. Among his best works are Het kerkelijk. drama in de Middeleeuwen (1861), De Dialogus Miraculorum van Ceasarius van Heisterbach (1873), and De Abdij Bloemhoj te Wittewierum (1883).
