Jan de Witte, author of Vreie-schrijt daer inne gehandelt wort van de voomaamste verschillen in de Leere en verstanden onder de Doopsghesinde Gemeenten . . . (Amsterdam, 1638). This writing, dealing with the differences between several branches of the Dutch Mennonites, was published by "a friend of the truth," apparently after the death of de Witte. De Witte also wrote Sommige Spreucken ft Redenen wt der H. Schrift, Fonteynewijs by een vergadert . . . (Amsterdam, 1605). Concerning deWitte nothing is known except that he belonged to the Waterlander branch.
