In 1948 five Amish families, feeling the need for more spiritual activities in the church, such as young people's Bible meetings, prayer meetings, more mission work, etc., decided to ask the Conservative Mennonite Conference for help to organize a Conservative church in Hutchinson, Kansas. On 1 August 1948, the church was organized with 24 members. They first met in an empty farmhouse but they soon moved to the Buckeye school building.

At first, Nevin Bender of Greenwood, Delaware, and Emanuel Swartzendruber of Pigeon, Michigan, were in charge of the work. Noah Miller was pastor for two years. A new church building erected in the summer of 1949,  located 4 miles south and 4 miles west of Hutchinson, and by September the church began holding services there. The church building was dedicated on 18 December 1949. In 1958 the baptized membership was 105, with Valentine Headings as bishop and Jonas P. Yoder as minister.

Major remodeling of the church took place in 1963 and included the addition of restrooms, classrooms, a nursery, balcony, and a foyer. The building was again expanded with the addition of the fellowship hall in 1976.

In 2011 the leading minister was Terry Yoder and the congregational membership was 136.
