Petrovka, a Mennonite settlement in Russia, a part of the group of villages called Naumenko in the province of Kharkov, Ukraine, had joined the Mennonite Brethren of Einlage (Kitchkas), the home of their founders, as a subsidiary. In Petrovka and Barvenkovo the settlement had churches. Inadequate connections with the mother church, sharp conlicts with the higher and lower authorities as well as with the Mennonite (Kirchliche Mennoniten) Church group, combined with economic decline had at times an unfavorable effect on the religious and the intellectual life of this settlement. (See Kharkov).
