Kliewer, Jakob (1743-1827)
Jakob Kliewer (1743-1827) was the Elder of the Frisian Mennonite Church of Danzig from 1798 and was born 7 January 1743. He continued in this capacity as co-Elder with Peter Tiessen, Sr. when the Flemish and Frisian congregations united in 1808. He died 5 October 1827. After his death and the death of Peter Tiessen, Jr., Jacob van der Smissen became elder and the change from the lay ministry to the theologically trained ministry was completed.
