Hauck, Albert (1845-1918)

Albert Hauck (1845-1918), a Protestant theologian, professor of theology at the University of Leipzig. He edited the second and third editions of the Realenzyklopädie für protestantische Theologie und Kirche, in which the Anabaptists are given thorough historical treatment and a just evaluation. He also gives the Anabaptists proper consideration in his book, Ueber Trennung von Kirche und Staat (Leipzig, 1912). On the maternal side Hauck was a descendant of the Mennonite Greiner family of Württemberg (see Blasius Greiner).
