Hansen, Reimer (1853-1926)
Reimer Hansen (1853-1926), professor at the Oberrealschule inOldesloe, Germany. Of simple rural origins, the gifted youth acquired a thorough education by study at the University ofKiel as well as by private study. His particular field was history. Later he became famed for his research in the history of Schleswig-Holstein, and especially of his home Dithmarschen. For Mennonite history two of his articles, written with objective scholarship, are of significance: "Wiedertäufer in Eiderstedt" (until 1616) in the Schriften des Vereins für schleswig-holsteinische Kirchengeschichte, series II, vol. 2; "Menno Simonis in Holstein" in Die Heimat, 1907. For the Mennonitisches Lexicon he wrote an article on the Danish Prince Frederick.
