Geuns, Bartel van (1805-1873)
Bartel van Geuns, the son of Matthias van Geuns (preacher at Haarlem), b. 5 August 1805, at Haarlem, was called in 1828 as minister to serve the Mennonite congregation at Akkrum, and to West Zaandam in 1830. The addresses given on the occasion of the union between the Frisians and the Flemish in 1841 by C. Leendertz and van Geuns have been published. Van Geuns retired on 7 August 1870, and died at Arnhem on 24 February 1873. He published a description of Zaandam and also a catechetical booklet, Gods Openbaringen (Zaandam, 1851). He was married to Hermina Juliana ten Cate of Enschede.
