Aldert Sierks Dijk (Dijck) was engaged as a preacher by the Old Flemish congregation at Groningen, Netherlands, on 16 August 1733. Although he was not an elder, he was influential in the Groningen Sociëteit. Especially at the conference of 1738 in Groningen he let himself be heard in the discussion on the elimination of the Mennonite divisions. He declared that it depended principally on a change of heart, without which externals were of no avail. He suggested that the elders should make an annual tour of all the congregations. In 1755 Dijk wrote the foreword to an Old Flemish Confession of Faith. He was generally loved for his piety of heart and his attitudes. He was the author of the following (all published in Groningen): De heilbegerige Jongeling, Onderwesen in de nodigste vereischtens eens Dopelings (1732); Nutte Bybel-Oeffening over Gewigtige Waarheden en Toestanden des Christendoms (1738); Kleyne Catechismus ofte Beginsel van onderwyzing voor kinderen . . . (1742); Na-errinnering eener Redevoering over 't slot von den Bybel (1744); Het leven en sterven van een Christen door de genade Jesu en in de vereeniging met Hem . . . (1744); Sluit-reede, gedaan by het eyndigen der Algem. Vergaderinge der Doopsges. Societeit . . . (1754); Proeve eener Kleine catechistize Passi-school, . . . (1759);   Catechetise  behandeling  over de geloofsbelydenis der Doopsgezinde, d'oude Vlamingen genaamt (1773).
