The Tofield Gospel congregation at Tofield, Alberta began services and formally organized in 1928 with 14 members. Its first presiding minister was A. Froese. The meetings were held in the homes of members until 1940, when the first church building was erected. In 1944, when the membership had grown to 70, the building was enlarged. There were subsequent building programs in 1963 and 1982.

Tofield was known as Lindbrook Mennonite Brethren until 1962-63 when the congregation relocated to Tofield and was called Tofield Mennonite Brethren. It became known as Tofield Gospel Church in 1977. In the mid-1940s the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren congregation at nearby Ryley joined the church.

In 1985 there were 130 members; in 1995, 118; in 2000, 134. The congregation has been affiliated with the Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches, Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in the 1950s.

The congregation's address is Box 444, Tofield, AB, T0B 4J0. (780) 662-3415. The church is located at 5826 - 51st St. Pastor Wilf Richert served in 2000 as a congregational leader.
