Peabody (Marion County, Kansas, USA)
Peabody, KS, originally known as Conesburg, is a town (pop. 1,400 in 1959; 1,384 in 2000) located in the south central part of Marion County. It was incorporated 15 March 1878. Approximately 500 Mennonites live within shopping distance. The various branches are the Church of God in Christ Mennonites (CGC), Mennonite Brethren (MB), General Conference Mennonites (GCM), and Mennonite Church (MC). The CGC group lives largely south of Peabody, the MB northwest, the GCM south, and the MC north of Peabody.
