Meulen, Jacobus van der (d. 1693)
Jacobus van der Meulen, (died 1693), apparently a physician, was the preacher and later the elder of the Waterlander congregation at Leiden, Holland. On 5 May 1670 he was appointed preacher, but on 16 September of that year he was suspended because he had preached publicly at Rijnsburg, the Collegiant center. On 16 December 1675 he was readmitted to the pulpit and on 24 July 1679 he was called to the eldership in the congregation, serving until his death on 22 October 1693. At his instigation catechetical instruction was started in 1682. A number of his relatives were deacons of the Waterlander and from 1701 in the United Leiden congregation.
