Medford Old Order Amish Settlement (Medford, Wisconsin, USA)
Medford, Wisconsin's Old Order Amish Settlement is located in Taylor County in north central Wisconsin. This Amish community is unique in that it was founded in 1925, 45 years before the other 13 settlements in the state. The size of the Medford community is sustained, primarily, by families moving in from other Wisconsin settlements that appear to be phasing out. Medford is one of two Amish communities in Wisconsin with at least four church districts (congregations) serving about 600 people. Medford lies in rich farming and dairying country. Its cold winters have had an effect on the slow growth in the settlement's 65 years of existence.
