Burrage, Henry Sweetser (1837-1926)
Henry Sweetser Burrage (b. 7 January 1837, d. 1926) was an American (New England) Baptist clergyman, editor, and historian, editor of Zion’s Advocate 1873-1905, author of A History of the Anabaptists in Switzerland (Philadelphia, 1882, 231 pp.), Baptist Hymn Writers and their Hymns (Portland, 1888, 682 pp.), containing a section on "Anabaptist Hymn Writers and their Hymns," pp. 1-26, and an Anabaptist novel, True to the End (Philadelphia, 1895, 192 pp., German edition at Cassel, 1920, Getreu bis ans Ende, Eine Täufererzählung zur Zeit Zwinglis). His son Champlin (1874- ), domiciled in England, also wrote historical works bearing on Anabaptist history: The Church Covenant Idea, Its Origin and Development (Philadelphia, 1904, 230 pp.) and The Early English Dissenters in the Light of Recent Research (1550-1641) 2 vols. (Cambridge, 1912).
