The Maranatha Mennonite Chapel, Nappanee, Indiana, began in 1981. It experienced slow but steady growth during the years it remained a Mennonite congregation.

In 2003, the congregation withdrew from the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA. Maranatha Mennonite Chapel became part of a small group of six churches called Radical Restorations Ministries founded by Dale Stoll. These churches were committed to "1) Remaining faithful to the root principles embodied in the New Testament Church; 2) Connecting to the historical radical church, including, but not limited to, the Anabaptists, and 3) Embracing the present move of God."

Sometime after 2011, Maranatha became a non-denominational charismatic community church using the name Maranatha Fellowship. In later years, it also used the name Maranatha Glory Apostolic Center and connected to Barbara J. Yoder's Breakthrough Apostolic Ministry Network. That Network is related to the Wagner Institute, a legacy of Peter Wagner's "signs and wonders" form of religious expression.[1]
