The Iglesia Anabautista Emanuel, South Bend, Indiana, USA began in September 1984 with Sunday afternoon worship services led by Filipe Cantu and Gilberto Gaytan. Gilberto Gaytan became the pastor in 1985. The Indiana-Michigan Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC), the Central District Conference of the General Conference Mennonite Church, and the Northern Indiana District of the Church of the Brethren sponsored the church plant. The young congregation joined these groups in 1987.

A survey by the Hispanic Ministries program at Goshen College provided the inspiration for this outreach. In 1985 the congregation began using a former Church of the Brethren building near the downtown area. In 1990 the congregation relocated because the original building was not in a Spanish-speaking area. It moved to the near west side of South Bend and changed its name to Iglesia Evangélica Emanuel.

The Iglesia Evangélica Emanuel closed in 2000. It appeared to meet in homes at the end of its existence.
