Normal (Illinois, USA)
Normal, Illinois, is a twin city (population in the mid-1950s 12,000, in 2005 50,519) with Bloomington on its south, in McLean County. It is the site of Illinois State University. Mennonites living in and around the city were almost all of the Central District Conference (General Conference Mennonite Church, now Mennonite Church USA). The First Mennonite Church of Normal was located within the city, at University and Church Streets. Approximately 400 Mennonites lived within the trading area of Normal in the 1950s.
