The Milton, Iowa Old Order Amish settlement began in spring 1969 when seven Old Order Amish families moved to Van Buren County between Milton and Pulaski.

In 2015 Milton was composed of three church districts with a total of 68 families. Many of the Amish farmers sold milk to the Milton Creamery, a Mennonite-owned cheesemaker.
