Jelis (Gielis) Outerman (Aefterman) was an Anabaptist martyr who was seized with eleven other Anabaptists while they were assembled for a religious service. After a lengthy imprisonment the others were executed on 10 December 1561, and he on the next day, at Bruges, Flanders. Jelis was a native of Dixmuide, Flanders. His name is found in the hymn "Genade en Vrede moet Godvreesende sijn," found in Veelderhande Liedekens of 1569.
