Missel, Hans (d. 1571)
Hans Missel, an Anabaptist martyr, still a young man, was betrayed and arrested at Langenschemmern in the Biberach district of Württemberg, Germany, and was taken to Warthausen and beheaded on 13 December 1571. He went to his death with joy. The executioner testified of him, "This man is better than all of us together." His suffering is described in the song, "Merkt auf, ihr gelibten Brüdermein," found in Lieder der Hutterischen Brüder and in Liliencron's anthology.
