L'Assemblée Chrétienne de Charlesbourg began services and formally organized in 1982. David Franco is considered the founding leader of the group, serving as pastor from 1982 until 1996. The congregation originated through outreach by the Association des Églises des frères mennonites du Québec. The congregation was first known as Église Évangélique Frères Mennonites de Charlesbourg. The language of worship was French. A number of those who initially started the church were members of l’Église évangélique de Montmorency, a nondenominational congregation.

The congregation was restarted in 2002 under the leadership of pastor couple Pierre and Claudette Pellerin. Pellerin had become pastor of the church in 2000.

In 2006 the congregation left the Quebec Mennonite Brethren Conference and joined the Limoilou Baptist Church.
