Promontory Ministries (Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada)
Brian and Becky Wiebe began planting a new church in the Promontory area of Chilliwack in December 2000 and had their first public event on Christmas Eve with 130 in attendance. The public launch of the church was on 11 March 2001 and held their charter service two months later, on 3 May, with 31 charter members. Promontory Community Church joined the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in May 2001. Other Mennonite Brethren churches in Chilliwack supported the church plant financially and with core support couples. By 2008 the congregation had a membership of 190 and an average weekly attendance of 600.
In 2011 the congregation purchased a downtown building (Liquidation World) and launched a second campus in downtown Chilliwack. The store remained a tenant in part of the space while the church occupied 10,000 square feet. In January 2014 the church took over another 10,000 square feet of former retail space to expand its children's ministry space.
In 2013 the downtown Chilliwack ministry was named Main Street Church while the ministry in the Promontory area was renamed Hillside Community Church, with both ministries functioning under Promontory Ministries.
On 9 March 2014, the two campuses were brought together at the Main Street Church location. The church's retail tenant that had been sharing the Main Street Church location had closed, making it difficult for the church to maintain two campuses.
