Gathering Place, The (Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada)
The Gathering Place started in 1997 in Ladysmith, British Columbia on Vancouver Island, and joined the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in 1998. At that time the church was led by Dave Koot. The average attendance had reached 70 by 1999. However, during that year, Dave Koot resigned as church planter and chose to join a Fellowship Baptist church plant in Nanaimo. The BC MB Conference Board of Church Extension took steps to replace Koot with another church planter. However, other leaders in the congregation decided to followed Koot to the new church plant, and it was announced that the congregation would close at the end of August 1999.
