Kornelius Abraham Wiens: teacher and minister; born 28 October 1864 in Schönau, Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, South Russia, the son of Abraham Wiens (1834, Schönau, Molotschna, South Russia - January 1920, Blumstein, Molotschna, South Russia), minister in the Halbstadt Mennonite Church from 1867, and Elisabeth (Klassen) Wiens (16 February 1837 - 1899, Schoenau, Molotschna, South Russia). Kornelius married Maria Penner (17 February 1863, Halbstadt, Molotschna, South Russia - 1939) and they had five children: Kornelius, Abraham, Margaretha, Heinrich, and Elisabeth. Kornelius died on 5 October 1941 in Halbstadt, Molotschna.

Kornelius graduated from the Ohrloff Zentralschule and the Halbstadt Normal School and was for a number of years an elementary teacher in the Molotschna settlement, Russia. He attended the Theological Seminary (Predigerschule) at Basel and taught Bible and German at the Halbstadt Mädchenschule. In 1907 he became teacher of the Halbstadt Zentralschule where he was also elected minister of the Halbstadt Mennonite Church in 1910. He is likely the co-author of Biblische Geschichten für mennonitische Elementarschulen (Halbstadt, 1902), prepared by K. Unruh, W. Neufeld, and K. Wiens. He received a medal from the Russian government in recognition of his educational achievements.
