In 1970 the Cliffwood Heights Neighborhood Church was organized in Capitola, California and became a member of the Pacific District Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The congregation changed its name in 1989 to Grace Community Church of Capitola.

The congregation disbanded around 1997 and a group of 15 people from the church formed the core of a new church, Shorelife Community Church.
