Widemann, Michael (d. 1538/9)
Michael Widemann (or Beck), an Anabaptist martyr, who was seized at Ried in Allgäu, Bavaria, Germany, with a group of followers in 1538. The others were released. When he was admonished to recant, he replied, "I have become converted once and have renounced all unrighteousness, and in this conversion I will persevere unto the end." After six months in prison he was beheaded and burned.
