Veenland family
Veenland, a Dutch Mennonite family of Lippenhuizen in Friesland, Netherlands. Ubele Ymes Veenland (1873-1941), trained at the University of Amsterdam and the Mennonite Seminary, was pastor of the Tjalleberd congregation 1903-1940. He published a historical paper about this church in Doopsgezind Jaarboekje 1919. Ubele Veenland served the congregation of Gorredijk-Lippenhuizen as a treasurer 1827-d.1867. His son Eesge Ubeles Veenland (b. 1827) was treasurer of the same church 1867-d.1914. Yme Ubeles Veenland, a brother of Eesge, the father of Pastor U. Y. Veenland, also served this congregation as a deacon for a number of years. His son Pieter Ymes Veenland (b. 1875) has been treasurer of the Gorredijk-Lippenhuizen church since 1915.
The tradition that Pieter Ymes, who in 1815 assumed the family name of Van der Woude and was a preacher of the Gorredijk-Lippenhuizen congregation 1782-1805 and of the Oldeboorn Oude Huis congregation 1805-33, and his son Yme Pieters van der Woude, who served at Nes, Ameland, 1821-1833 and Oldeboorn Oude Huis 1833-d.1836, were members of this family, is doubtful.
