Schneider, Ulrich (d. 1639)
Ulrich (Uhl) Schneider, an Anabaptist martyr, was seized on 23 September 1635, in Wädiswyl, in the Swiss canton of Zürich, and died in chains in the Oethenbach prison in Zürich in 1639. His two sons were then imprisoned in the same place but escaped. Meanwhile the authorities sold their home for 7,000 guilders, and put the children out among strangers.
