Anneken Ogiers (d. 1570)
Anneken Ogiers, also known as Anneken Jans and Anneken Boogaerts was an Anabaptist martyr. She was the daughter of Jan Ogiers and the wife of Adriaen Boogaerts, a potter, who lived at Haarlem in the Dutch province of North Holland, in den Witten Valk (at the White Falcon). Anneken was rebaptized about 1553 at Amsterdam; for this reason she was imprisoned. When she was unwilling to forsake her faith, she was condemned to be drowned. This sentence was carried out in 1570 (date unknown) in the town hall at Haarlem (thus not in public).
