Georg Frölich, "known as Letus from the Lömnitz, native of Vogtland," born in Egerland, Bohemia, on the Bohemian border not far from Lomnitz, probably in 1500, was city recorder first in Nürnberg (1524), and then in Augsburg (1536), where with a few interruptions he was still living in 1554, the publisher of a book, Das fürtreffenlich buoch Isocratis, vom Reich zu Nicocli dem Künig in Cypern geschriben (Isokrates, de Regno) . . . yetzt erstmals treülich verteutscht. Allen Oberkeiten nützbarlich onnd notwendig zu wissen (Augspurg, 1548). According to Calvary, Mitteilungen aus dem Antiquariate (Berlin, 1870, Verzeichnis V and VI, p. 49), the author opposes persecution of the sects and offers noteworthy data on the status of the Anabaptists in the Swabian regions. A copy of the book is in the British Museum.
