Geestelijck Liedt-Boecxken
Geestelijck Liedt-Boecxken, een, inholdende veel schoone sinrijcke Christlijcke Liedekens: oock troostlijcke Nieuwe-Jaren, Claech- unde Lof-Sanghen, ter Eeren Godes: Alle oprechte Godt-meenende Liefhebberen der Waerheyt Christi, Olden unde Jonghen seer dienstlijck, deur D. J. (n.p., n.d.). This Anabaptist hymnbook in the Low German language was published at the end of the 16th century. The author is David Joris. It was probably published by Gillis Roman at Haarlem, Holland. There is also a second edition, enlarged by two hymns; this second edition was in the Dutch language. A copy of the first edition is found in the Royal Library at The Hague, one of the second edition in the Library of the University of Ghent. The hymns, for a large part composed by David Joris himself, deal with Anabaptist martyrs of the period 1529-1536. The fourth hymn is dedicated to Anneken N., viz., Anneken Jans of Rotterdam. This hymn was also included in the Offer des Heeren of 1562. Many of the hymns contain an ecstatic apocalyptic mysticism, as taught by David Joris.
