Jan Derks was the author of Een Chnstelyke Proeve, of zijns zelfs onderzoekinge (Deventer, 1717). This devotional treatise in the Dutch language is followed by Menno Simons' Van de Geestelyke Verryzenisse (Spiritual Resurrection); the volume closes with two hymns, Twe gemoedsopwekkende liedekens, by Jan Derks, about whom nothing further is known.
