The Nagtegaals, a Mennonite family, was found to have been on the Dutch island of Ameland at least since the 18th century. In the 1950s the descendants of this family were still serving as deacons there. The Nachtigal family found in Russia and America and formerly in Prussia may be related to this Dutch family.
