Klundert (Noord-Brabant, Netherlands)
Klundert was a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant where a number of Mennonites were found about 1570. With their brethren at Breda they held meetings on the "Buursteedse heide" near Princenhage or in the homes of the members in Breda or also on the "Niervaert," i.e., Nieuwervaart near Klundert in the homes of Elsken Deeken (or Deckers) and Jan Peetersz. A meeting in the house of the latter, on 5 August 1571 (van Braght, Martyrs' Mirror, erroneously 1572), attended by about 50 members, was surprised by the police and a number of them were arrested, most of whom were executed at Breda. After this disaster no Mennonites were found there.
