The Primera Iglesia Evangelica Mission in Calgary, Alberta formally organized in 1981. The congregation originated through outreach by the Northwest Mennonite Conference.

The language of worship is Spanish. The congregation has also been known as Iglesia Evangelica Menonita Hispana.

Pastor Jose R. Vallejos served in 2002 as a congregational leader.
