Plovier family
Plovier (Plouvier, Plovyer, Pleviers), a Mennonite family found in the 16th-17th centuries at Haarlem, Holland. They were weavers or tailors, natives of Meenen (Menin) in Flanders, who fled to Haarlem because of persecution. By marriage they were related to other Mennonite families such as van Heuvel, van Robaix, Verschoten, and Alderwerelt. Very likely the martyr Lenaert Plovier, executed in 1560 at Antwerp, Belgium, was a member of this family.
