Elfregi
Elfregi, a Dutch youth association founded 27 December 1929, at Zaandam, Dutch province of North Holland, composed of the Mennonite catechumens of the whole Zaan district. A clubhouse at Zaandam was obtained in 1931; besides this, church services for the youth were organized in September 1932 and meetings were held in the Broederschapshuizen (brotherhood homes) of Elspeet and Schoorl. In 1945 the association was reorganized, becoming a Mennonite scout organization, which had sections at Zaandam-Wormerveer, Haarlem, Amsterdam, and Groningen. The name Elfregi symbolizes the contacts of the three Mennonite brotherhood homes and camping centers which existed when the Association was founded, Elfregi being formed of the first syllables of Elspeet, Fredeshiem, and Giethoorn. The total membership in 1954 numbered about 400.
