David Peter Neufeld: teacher; born in 1883 in Rosenort, Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, South Russia, to Peter Neufeld and his wife. Peter was a minister at the Orloff Mennonite Church. In August 1908, David married Evangeline (Eva) Reimer (b. 23 May 1886), daughter of Cornelius Reimer and Katharina (Isaac) Reimer of Wiesenfeld. He worked as a teacher until he was removed from his job in about 1927 because of his belief in God, but he was later able to obtain work in the Crimea. He was arrested and exiled in November 1937; in 1941, he disappeared and presumably died shortly afterwards.

As a child, David attended school in his village before continuing on to Zentralschule in Orloff and then a two-year pedagogical course in Halbstadt. He worked first in Wiesenfeld, Ekaterinoslav Province, and then in the Friedensruhe school in the Molotschna Mennonite Settlement. In August 1908, he married Eva Reimer of Wiesenfeld. In 1918, the family moved to Lugistal in the Crimea, where they stayed for several years. From there they returned to the Molotschna, where David taught at a number of schools.

Likely in about 1927, the school authorities decided to examine David Peter Neufeld about his belief in God. Because he did not deny his faith, he lost his job and was left without a pension. For some time, the family experienced extreme financial difficulties, but David eventually found work at Station Islam Terek in the Crimea. However, he was arrested in November 1937 and sent into exile, where his wife and children also went. David disappeared in 1941 and was never heard from again.
