Matthäus Bliem, weaver and preacher of the Mennonite congregation at Friesenheim in the Palatinate, died about 1740. He published an extract from Gerrit Roosen's book, Christliches Gemütsgespräch von dem geistlichen und seligmachenden Glauben und Erkenntnis der Wahrheit, so zu der Gottseligkeit führt in der Hoffnung des ewigen Lebens, 1702, under the title, Auszug aus Gerhardts Roosen, gewesenem Lehrer der Mennonitengemeinde Altona bei Hamburg, bestehend aus 35 Fragen und Antworten bei Information zur christlichen Wassertaufe. It was used for a long time as a catechism in the South German churches.
