Jacob David Ramer (often referred to as David Ramer): deacon in the Duchess Mennonite Church at Duchess, Alberta, and of the Pike Church in Elida, Ohio, was born 3 November 1902 at Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, and died in Lima, Ohio, on 6 December 1967. He married Irene S. Hartman (d. 30 October 2001) on 4 March 1925. They had two sons and three daughters.

David Ramer was baptized and received as a member of the Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mission in 1915. He accompanied other family members who settled as pioneers in the Duchess, Alberta, area in 1917 and was chosen by lot and ordained a deacon in the Duchess Mennonite Church on 31 May 1925, a few months after his marriage. His grandfather, Jacob S. Ramer, and his father, Henry Brubaker Ramer, were the first ministers of the Duchess Mennonite Church, and his brother Clarence Jay Ramer served the congregation for many years as minister and bishop.

David and Irene Ramer served the Duchess Mennonite Church until November of 1930 when the family moved to Elida, Ohio. He continued to serve as a deacon in the Pike Church until the time of his death.
